B2 Prepositions – Derinlemesine Konu Anlatımı

Yer, zaman, yön, neden-sonuç, karşıtlık, kalıp yapılar ve YDT’de sık görülen preposition kullanımlarıyla hazırlanmış kapsamlı ders materyali.

Prepositions Nedir?

Örneğin sadece of ya da on değil; aware of, insist on, solution to, good at gibi.

1) IN / ON / AT

Genel mantık:

  • in: daha geniş alan, kapalı alan, uzun zaman dilimi
  • on: yüzey, gün, tarih
  • at: nokta, kesin zaman, belirli yer / etkinlik

İngilizcede in / on / at hem zaman hem yer anlatırken kullanılır. Genel eğilim şudur: at bir noktaya, on bir yüzeye ya da belirli güne, in ise daha geniş alanlara ve daha uzun zaman dilimlerine gider. Ayrıca at night gibi sabit kullanımlar da vardır.

IN

Ne zaman kullanılır? Kapalı alanlar, şehirler/ülkeler, aylar, yıllar, uzun dönemler.

Örnekler:

  1. I left my phone in the fridge because apparently I trust dairy products more than my own memory.
  2. In 2025, my cousin started a diet and ended it the same day, right after smelling baklava.

ON

Ne zaman kullanılır? Yüzeyler, günler, tarihler, bir şeyin üstü.

Örnekler:

  1. The cat is sitting on the printer like it owns the company and pays the electricity bill.
  2. On Monday morning, our teacher said “This will be a short quiz,” and the class experienced spiritual collapse.

AT

Ne zaman kullanılır? Kesin saat, nokta, belirli adres/yer, bazı sabit ifadeler.

Örnekler:

  1. At 3 a.m., my neighbor decided it was the perfect time to become a drummer.
  2. We met at the bus stop and both pretended we were not buying our third simit of the day.
Bu bölümde dikkat:
  • in the morning / in the afternoon / in the evening
  • at night
  • on Monday / on 12 April / on Monday morning
  • at school / at work / at home gibi kullanımlar daha çok nokta / kurum / etkinlik mantığıyla işler.
YDT’de iş gören phrasal / prepositional verbler:
log in fill in hand in rely on insist on

Boşluk doldurma: She always studies ___ the evening because the house is quieter then.

2) TO / INTO / ONTO / OUT OF / OFF

Genel mantık:

  • to: bir hedefe doğru hareket
  • into: bir şeyin içine giriş
  • onto: bir yüzeyin üstüne hareket
  • out of: içerden dışarı yön
  • off: bir yüzeyden ayrılma

Yön ve hareket anlatırken İngilizce çok nettir: to hedefe gitmeyi, into içeri girişi, onto ise bir yüzeyin üstüne geçişi anlatır. Out of kapalı ya da sınırlı bir alanın içinden dışarı çıkışı, off ise bir yüzeyden ayrılmayı verir.

TO

  1. I ran to the kitchen because I heard someone opening a chip packet.

OFF

get into run into look into take off get off put off hold onto

Boşluk doldurma: The cat jumped ___ the box and refused to come out for twenty minutes.

3) FOR / SINCE / DURING / BY / UNTIL

Genel mantık:

  • for: süre
  • since: başlangıç noktası
  • during: bir dönem/esnasında
  • by: en geç, deadline
  • until: bir zamana kadar devam

Özellikle zaman anlatımında bu beşli çok karıştırılır. For “ne kadar süre?”, since “ne zamandan beri?”, during “hangi dönem/esnasında?”, by “en geç ne zamana kadar?”, until ise “hangi zamana kadar sürerek?” sorusunu cevaplar.

FOR
